Lambs4ewe is located in Webster County in southern Missouri. We are a commercial operation offering Katahdin X Dorper ewe lambs and butcher lambs for sale. We have provided lambs to suppliers of national chains specializing in pastured raised lamb. Located 20 minutes off I-44, we are easily accessible from anywhere in Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky or Iowa.
Lambs4ewe was born in 2007 when sheep were added to our 190 acres of rocks, thorn trees, buck brush and cedars. I had been considering options to supplement and maintain our farm way of life. I often tell people that I didn’t get sheep to have something else to buy feed for. I wanted the sheep to work for me, not the other way around. The girls deliver under our poor circumstances- a perfect fit!
In 2007, I had six crossbred hair ewe lambs to breed. I approached the selection of a ram as if I was buying a herd bull- he would be contributing 50% of my lambs genes. Since I was to be selling lambs for meat, I decided to buy the best registered Dorper ram I could justify (for six ewes!). I was very impressed with my lambs but only had two ewe lambs that spring. The first two ewe lambs I had raised- I couldn’t sell them. But, I now had a ram problem again- needed one not related to those two. Since I was very impressed with mothering of the original Katahdin cross ewes, I bought a Katahdin ram just for Carol and Miss Vickie.
Since that time, I have alternated Dorper and Katahdin rams- saving back the best ewe lambs. This year I have almost 80 ewes bred.
Another beautiful winter morning in Missouri!
